Supernatural’s Angel drops hints about Castiel’s future

Posted in interview, news on December 14, 2008 by Kel

In a recent interview picked up by The Reading Eagle, Misha Collins (Castiel) let out a few tidbits about both Castiel and his future with Supernatural.

Collins had initially been signed for only six episodes, but will be staying for much more. “But the fan reaction has been huge and – this is big news – if the show gets picked up for a fifth season, they’re going to make me a regular on the show,” he says, all due to the fannish reaction to his heavenly presence. “And I think that’s in large part due to the fan reaction, which has been really amazingly supportive and somewhat obsessive.”

Supernatural fans, obsessive? Oh, Misha. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

When asked about Castiel’s motivations, Collins is honest; “I’m not entirely informed as to what his future holds for him…” but he has several ideas of his own as to what motivates the angel.

“I would like to think that Castiel is a good guy in a bad situation,” is Collins’ appraisal of Castiel. “In my mind Castiel is starting to develop an admiration for Dean and the stance that Dean seems to stake out as he goes along,” he adds.

Whether you love her or hate her, the demon Ruby has become a fairly important part of the Supernatural story. In keeping with the revelations in last week’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” TV Guide is featuring an interview with current Ruby actress Genevieve Cortese.

Warning: Full Article Does Contain Minor Spoilers

Cortese chats with TV Guide scribe Matt Mitovitch in this interview. She addresses the fan response to Ruby, what she thinks Ruby’s motivations are and her feelings towards Sam in particular, and even what and how Ruby is feeling now that she’s a refugee from Hell.

One of the interview’s lighter moments comes in reference to the love scene between Ruby and Sam in “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” Mitovich asks if she felt nervous during the scene, and Cortese cracks, “And two, I was more nervous because he is so big and so tough! [Laughs] Jared’s muscles… I mean, his arm is like the size of my body!”

TV Guide Previews “I Know What You Did Last Summer” with guest actress Julie McNiven

Posted in interview, news on November 13, 2008 by Kel

Finally, after weeks of speculation and sometimes-marginalization of the summer after Dean’s death, we get to find out what happened to Sam while Dean was caught in Hell for four months. In “I Know What You Did Last Summer”–a two-part episode which will end with next week’s mid-season finale (titled “Hell’s Angels, although that could change prior to airing, scheduled to air on November 20th.), we finally get answers.

McNiven appears in both tonight’s episode and next week’s as Anna, a woman who can hear the whisperings of both the demons and the angels. McNiven reveals that her character ends up “…stuck in the middle of a horrible situation” with Sam and Dean, and that both brothers work diligently to get her–and themselves–out of it. Like all other guest stars, Julie confirms that Jared and Jensen are dreams to work with. “Absolutely – both complete gentlemen! I had such fun working with them, and with Genevieve, too,” she says. “The boys were hilarious. They can go from joking around to right in a scene, but I get the giggles, so I literally had to bite my cheek and tongue to focus.”

Jared’s F13 Experience

Jared Padalecki

Jared Padalecki

Speaking to FEARnet about his upcoming project, the Friday the 13th remake, Padalecki reveals his favorite kill, his favorite part of the shoot, and why he won’t take his clothes off for the camera!

“I mean the cast is I can say – I’ve been doing this a while – and I can say, without a doubt, that I’m gonna keep in touch with people that I’ve met on this movie. That’s nice to be able to say, because usually it’s like summer camp “Hey, see ya later!” And then you don’t call ‘em. But here it’s like I can’t wait to hang out with them again,” he says about the cast. He names castmates Danielle Panabaker, Derek Mears, and Amanda Righetti amongst the friends he’s made and intends to “hang out” with.

In talking about his favorite kill, Padalecki is very precise, giving a very good spoiler for the movie. I won’t post it here, but you can find it in the link. I can say that it is a very classic Jason kill, and it sounds amazing. About the kill itself, he says, “And that’s really the point in the movie where everything comes to a head and just explodes. And after that everything’s so fast paced and moving so quickly and everything’s so hectic and that’s when the audience is really gonna be on the edge of their seats. Not like they wouldn’t before but that’s when the break line – breaks, and it’s full speed ahead for the rest of the movie.”

Another Angel Alights On Supernatural

Robert Wisdom (The Wire, Prison Break) has landed on Supernatural as the (arch)angel Uriel, companion and not-quite-friend of Supernatural‘s current angel, Castiel (Misha Collins.)

Speaking to TV Guide, Wisdom describes Uriel (and Castiel) as “…kind of a mix between characters from the Addams Family realm and The Odd Couple. We like each other but we aren’t real close.” He also defends his character against claims of being trigger-happy, saying instead that Uriel is “eager” to do God’s will, and “If that means smiting a whole city, he has to do it.”

Historically, Uriel has been the fourth Archangel, filling out the quartet with Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. More on Uriel can be found here.

Eric Kripke Addresses Fan Concerns

Posted in interview, news on October 24, 2008 by Kel

And no, it’s not about the controversy you’re thinking of.

Apparently, Mr. Kripke finds it necessary to reassure the world that Dean is not a dick.

Like we didn’t already know that. How about addressing the BIG controversies, Mr. Kripke? Like what’s going on with Sam and Ruby, if they’re doing the nasty, and why he’s been shoved to the back burner for two whole seasons now?

But, I won’t complain. At least he’s letting us know that he’s listening! All in all, the Krip still gets a thumbs-up from me!

More Grampa Mitch

Posted in interview, news on October 1, 2008 by Kel

Supernatural Television rarely plays favorites when it comes to websites, but BuddyTV far and away comes out on top as one of the best because of the depth of their interviews.

Their recent interview with Mitch Pileggi continues that fine tradition; not only is there an mp3 for those who want to listen, there’s a transcript of the interview as well, and it delves as deep as allowable (he can’t give away *everything!*).
