Did you know P. Diddy is Afraid of his TV?

Posted in fan-related activities, media, news on September 15, 2009 by Kel

I’m sure that by now, you’ve all heard of the dust-up between Supernatural fans and P. Diddy. If you haven’t, visit Buddy TV’s article for a nice sum-up of events.

Reader’s Digest version: Supernatural fans used the trending topics feature of Twitter to tweet #LuciferIsComing and #Supernatural into the top tier of topics to promote the season premiere, “Lucifer Rising.” P. Diddy apparently thought Satanists were taking over Twitter and tweeted back to rally “God’s Army” and Twitter pulled the #LuciferIsRising hashtag.

Enter Misha Collins, the quirky actor who plays Castiel. He has challenged P. Diddy, and is encouraging his minions to tweet that challenge this coming Thursday.

Enter Little McKay and the most brilliant YouTube Video ever:

As editor of Supernatural Television, I try not to let my own biases about storylines or characters flavor this blog, although I’m sure there is more than one slanted article (and I’m not including my recent editorial, because that is obviously an op-ed column and not what I mean). However in this case, I’m going to break my own rule, and endorse this poll and this campaign.

Edit: THE CAMPAIGN IS A GO. The Sam Lovin’ Postcard Project is on it’s feet and ready to rock and roll! Head over, check out the community, and mail out some postcards!

Fan Charity Drives Support Supernatural

Posted in fan-related activities, news on October 25, 2008 by Kel

While it is no surprise that the fans of Supernatural are dedicated, and even less surprising that said fans are outspoken and diverse, it might surprise you to know that when the chips are down, fans easily unite for a good cause.

A well-timed SF Universe article by guest poster Liana Beck reminds the Supernatural fandom at large of all the good that has been done, as well as highlighting to the rest of the world just how much support this show has.

Mentioning several websites and dollar amounts nearing $10,000, Ms. Beck manages to bring the fandom’s best foot forward while reminding all of us how important it is that we all stay united to make sure the show we love stays on the air for us to love.

Supernatural Panel at Comic-Con

Posted in fan-related activities, news on July 17, 2008 by Kel

For the three people who’ve been living under an Antartic glacier, it’s been confirmed that Jared and Jensen, along with Eric Kripke, Ben Edlund, Sera Gamble, and Origins writer Peter Johnson will be at the Supernatural panel on Sunday July 27th.

The panel will answer questions, show footage from the upcoming Season 3 DVD special features, and offer a sneak peek at the Season 4 premiere for panel attendees.

Panel will be held on Sunday, July 27th, 11:15-12:15, Room 6CDEF.

It’s possible that Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) will be doing double-duty on Sunday, appearing at the Friday the 13th panel, 1-1:30, Ballroom 20. That is merely a guess, however, as the Comic-Con website has not confirmed the appearance of any stars from the remake, saying only that it will offer a sneak peek at the new film.

News: Send A Letter To Eric Kripke

Posted in fan-related activities, news on February 20, 2007 by Kel

from deviant_dev:

Okay, after careful deliberations with friends, I have decided to try a little something fun. Everyone has things they want to say to Kripke about episodes past, episode ideas, etc. Some of you just want to thank him for his amazing show, the casting, etc. Whatever it is you want to say to him, you can do it here & now!

That’s right. I’m collecting letters from the fans for Eric Kripke.

The letters will be printed out, organized by episode/content and mailed directly to Kripke Enterprises in California. (Tentative date: April 16th. – Just in time for Kripke’s birthday, so birthday wishes are fine, too.)

More information and details on the project can be found here, as well as letter-writing guidelines.

Livejournal Community: Promoting Supernatural

Posted in fan-related activities, news on January 26, 2007 by Kel

There is a new livejournal community called promote_spn.

From the journal’s profile:

This community was created to bring fans of the CW Network series Supernatural together to generate buzz for our favorite show. Our initial objective will be to get Supernatural on the cover/featured in as many magazines as we can through mass emails and snail mail.

We’ll be organizing monthly fan “attacks” on specific magazines and then work from there. The community will post all the necessary information you’ll need to send in your emails and postcards at the designated time.

A Livejournal is not necessary to participate in the campaign, as all entries are currently public. For further information email
